Obama Greater Than Jesus.

Here's a little link to a Danish article that stated that Obama was greater than Jesus. "Obama is, of course, greater than Jesus..." because yes, Jesus performed all of His miracles that helped blindmen to see and who were deaf to hear (this of course is not considering giving the gift of eternal life to every human being ever borne etc) but doggone-it, he didn't even pass one single piece of healthcare legislation through the Sanhedrin. Yea, I can see how that logic works

Here's the link.

Local Elections

My apologies for the long delay in posts. I have just been busy with many of the local elections here in West Valley City. Last Tuesday, the primary elections were held and we had some sad loses but also promising wins for conservatives everywhere. I just wanted to let all those who would be interested, an opportunity to get to know some of the candidates that I support a little better.

Mayor:

Kevin Fayles

City Council:

District 2 is a toss up. Either candidate will do a great job on the city council.

District 4: Matt Harris

At Large: Don Christensen

There are many candidates that would do well either way but these individuals I believe would bring the best hope for our future in West Valley City. Good luck to all the candidates in West Valley and the rest of the cities in Utah.

Recognition Where Recognition is Due

Recognition where recognition is due. Today, I just wanted to recognize some of the many individuals who have supported this campaign and helped us in getting our message across to the voters in the District 33. All of the following individuals have been a tremendous help in either strategic planning, donations, or volunteering their time at various events throughout the valley. Thanks again to everyone who has helped and let’s keep this ball rolling.

Kara and Maya Huntinghouse – I would not be where I am today nor in the position to run without my family's support specifically my wife's. She will always be my best support and I will always be indebted to her for everything that she does.

Mitch Hilburn (campaign manager) – Has been instrumental as our campaign manager, organizing, and helping me in act our campaign message and strategies. I would not be able to handle the load that I have had without his instrumental help.

Drew Conrad (media director and executive staff member) – Has been the media genius of our campaign and has helped bring credibility and exposure to our campaign.

Justin Brooks (executive staff member) - Is the newest member of our campaign but has contributed a great deal in organizing our financial books and helping at our executive staff meetings and events. There is not a more enthusiastic young man in our city.

Steve Clausen (executive staff member) – Has been there since the beginning and has been a tremendous help in strategic planning of our campaign. There is no one more reliable or dependable than Steve in our campaign

Scott Dansie (executive staff member) – Scott’s insights and willingness to help in our executive staff meetings has been invaluable. Scott has also been there from the beginning and I’m extremely grateful for his help in our efforts in bringing back a conservative voice to District 33.

All of my immediate family members on both sides of the family. They have been extremely supportive donating their time, money and resources to this campaign and without whom; we would not have progressed as far as we have so far.

And finally thanks to everyone else for their generous support of your time, donations and resources in our cause. Without the help of all of you, we would not be where we are today.

Thank you all,
John Huntinghouse

Obama's Deficit Neutral Plan

Obama has stated that he wants a deficit neutral healthcare plan. Ok, let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he really does want a deficit neutral healthcare plan (which means that Congress will have to scrap that 1.2 trillion dollar mess that they called healthcare reform) and let’s assume that he sticks to his guns and will not sign any type of healthcare reform that doesn’t fit this criteria. Well, shouldn’t that make us “fiscal conservatives” happy? No! The reason this shouldn’t make anyone happy let alone the fiscal conservatives in the room happy is because of this one fact, our current healthcare obligations are ALREADY too high!

I’m a huge supporter of having healthcare reform and the one thing that President Obama has right is that if we continue the status quo, we will end up bankrupting ourselves (thanks Medicaid and Medicare). One of the major aspects of any type of healthcare reform is that not only does it have to be deficit neutral; it has to go way beyond that. It has to be deficit reducing. It is not good enough to pass a healthcare bill that will have us continue down this road of bankruptcy. We have to have a plan that lowers the costs of overall healthcare. I have been debating back and forth with various people of all walks of life Republicans, Democrats and independents alike concerning what would be the best approach in bringing down healthcare costs. This is why I truly believe in a free market approach in bringing down the current system. People forget that capitalism IS NOT business friendly. Ask any business that gone into bankruptcy or has folded, they’ll tell you how bad that sucks. Capitalism is not business friendly, its consumer friendly. It’s really not surprising when you see the correlation of our nation and how relatively wealth we are to other country and our views of capitalism. If we want to continue to follow this path of prosperity, we also need to continue follow the path of this great capitalistic experiment we call the “American Dream” and that applies to the healthcare industry as well as it does to all the others.

Healthcare Around the World

Here is a link to a CNN article that briefly talks about the different healthcare systems around the world. Granted, they don't mention the Sweden or Singapore models but remember even with those models, there are downfalls. Healthcare is a difficult issue that carries with it an enormous amount of unintended consequences. We need to be open to novel ideas, borrowed ideas from other models and using those ideas that have worked for us here.
